ANNOUNCING OUR NEW LOCATION!!!

Ladmar Beagles has recently made the move from our Washington State home to 200 acres in Missouri. That's 10 times the area for our beagles to roam yet not as many bunnies it seems. The beagles will just have to take up squirrel hunting. We're excited about our new home, but it's taking a lot of work to settle in. Pictures coming soon. In honor of our new home, expect to see upcoming changes to the page.

History Of Ladmar Beagles

Kennel Name: Lad-Mar
Ladka + Marci

This kennel name was derived from the combination of our first two AKC show dogs, two rottweilers who will always be in our hearts. Ladka, above, was our first Rottweiler, a very intelligent devoted friend who we sadly lost at the age of 6 years old to luekemia. And our show bitch, Marci.

We are "Ladmar Beagles" and we ended up with Beagles by accident.  In '93 some friends of ours got a divorce and their son moved in with us, bringing with him a Walker Hound.  We had been showing, hunting  and breeding UKC Redbones since about 1979. I just didn't want an untrained Walker Hound around. So I told Andy if he gave it back to his dad I would buy him a beagle, as we live on 20 acres with rabbits everywhere.  I ended up buying a 4 month old bitch from Tim Lowery in Ohio.

Chelsea CodyWe bought Chelsea as a pet with no intention of showing her, but the more I looked at her the more I thought she should be in the ring.  I ended up sending her to shows with friends of mine. Chelsea got 5 breed wins that show season but there were no majors so when she had 9 points we stopped showing her to wait until there were.  By the time there were majors Chelsea had just decided she didn't care for the show ring any more, just looked bored to death, so she ended her show career and had a litter of puppies sired by a male I bought from Chardon kennels, our Cody.

TaliaWe kept 1 puppy from Chelsea's first litter and let our daughter show it. Trisha is very shy and had never wanted to get in the ring before, yet she showed "Talia"  to her championship and then specialed her for 9 months to #10 ranked 13" in 1997 (Breed).  In Chelsea's 2nd litter we kept 2 bitches and sold one male to a friend.  They all finished by 1 year old. Anyway between Chelsea and her sweet beautiful Daughter "Talia"  we were hooked. To date we have bred 25 US champion show beagles (in 5 years of showing) and one Mexican champion.

As far as being dog people:  My parents bred dogs from the time I was born. They field trialed Am. Water Spaniels and had the first ones to come to the west coast. My grandmother was a hobby dog show person when I was in elementary school.  Jim is also from a family that has always had dogs.  His family is from Missouri and he coon hunted with hounds from the time he was a little guy.

Before Beagles we showed Australian Cattle Dogs  (& still do) and Rotts (really miss Rott puppies, cutest babies in the world!) Way before that we showed UKC Redbones. Before we used Ladmar as a kennel name we used Whidbey.
